My name is John Thurston. I am privileged to be Seniors' Captain at Cirencester Golf Club for the year 2011-2012.

Our section at Cirencester is roughly 140 strong with members ranging in age from 55 to over 90. We have an extensive and varied diary of social and golfing events listed in the "Club Events Calendar" Included are matches with neighbouring clubs, monthly stableford competitions and matches against the Club Captain’s team, the President’s team, Juniors and a mixed match with our Lady Members.

A cornerstone of the Seniors is our twice weekly "Roll-Up" on Mondays and Wednesdays. A draw for partners takes place at 0810 in the summer and 0825 in the winter. Most Seniors arrive earlier for a relaxed chat. Our unique method of drawing for partners demonstrates the importance we place on social golf played in a spirit of camaraderie and enjoyment.

The Seniors also have a social calendar with an Annual Dinner, Dinner Dance and lunches / dinners following some golf events.

With the backing of active and experienced committee and supportive membership you can be sure of enjoying your game with people of your own age, in an atmosphere of respect and understanding coupled with a generous measure of humour that is the envy of many clubs.
