Jane Muncer was appointed Lady Captain at the AGM on Saturday 5th November.
A 14 hole Stableford competition was followed by the ladies annual prize giving dinner on Thursday 3rd November. The evening was hosted by Lady Captain Emma Brereton and Club President Robert Evans was on hand to present the trophies. Robert seemed very comfortable in his role - the lone chap amongst the 72 lady golfers - and Emma was very pleased that he accepted the invitation as presenting several of the more prestigious prizes to herself would have proved difficult. The very successful evening was the final event in a hugely successful year for Emma who handed the reigns over to her Vice Captain Jane Muncer at the AGM on Saturday 5th.
A very special occasion was held on Thursday 12 January 2012 at Cirencester Golf Club, when both past and present lady members met to celebrate Dorothy Clark’s 90th birthday.
Dorothy, who played golf with a single figure handicap, was Lady Captain at Romily, Cheshire in 1966. After moving to Cirencester with her husband Norman in the 1970’s, they joined Cirencester Golf Club, where in 1983, she became Lady Captain. In 2007, at the age of 83, Dorothy won the W S Morrison Trophy with a nett 66 at Cirencester Golf Club Open Day.
Ladies’ Captain Jane Muncer presented Dorothy with a flower and gift vouchers. Dorothy
is still playing golf and we hope to see her on the golf course for many years
to come. PLEASE CLICK HERE FOR PHOTO OF DOROTHY on her special day.

 B Team Win Promotion
The B Team only needed a few points from their match with Naunton Downs on 25th September to achieve promotion to Division 2. They achieved a creditable 9-9 draw on a difficult course and finished the season top of Division 3, qualifying for promotion. The A team after a very strong start, fell away but secured third place in division 1. Congratulations to all team members and  many thanks to the team Captains Muriel Telling and Chris Park for all their hard work and excellent team management.

Lady Captain's Day
One of the highlights of the ladies summer season is the lady captain's day which was held in gorgeous weather on 14th July - Bastille day. The Lady Captain, Emma Brereton chose to celebrate both her birthday and her golf day with a French tricolor theme of red white and blue and every lady member sported these colours in one guise or another. The competition format featured teams of four, with the best two stableford scores on each hole counting. The popularity of the day ensured a high turnout of lady members and competition was lively.
Following a French themed supper the winning team of Angela Canty, Chris Keen, Jill Briggs and Margaret Davey was announced. PLEASE CLICK HERE FOR PHOTO This team scored 88 points one point clear of second placed Irena Windslow, Christine Clarke, Paddy Challens and Annie Fisher. Prizes for these and the third and fourth place teams were donated and awarded by the Lady Captain. Nearest the pin prizes were awarded for two divisions, Sally Hadley won the Silver Division and Katie Leith the bronze. Paula Lester-Powell was nearest the pin on the 18th.
A prize for a rare eagle on the par 5 third was awarded to Linda McIntosh.
The Lady Captain's special prize was awarded to Alison Kelly. Recently, Alison had unselfishly decided to miss the annual Scratch Cup competition for which she would have been a strong favourite in order to represent the county.

  Club Championship
On Saturday 18th June the lady members competed alongside the men in the club championships. Lady Captain Emma Brereton won convincingly with a gross score over 36 holes of 156, well clear of second place
Hilary Swan with a gross 168. Emma will receive the most prestigious award in the ladies calendar - The Scratch Cup at the Lady Captains dinner later this month.

Ritchie Salver
Annie Fisher walked away with both the Ritchie Salvers on the 4th September. The two salvers, presented to the club by Lin Ritchie in 1993 are awarded for the best Gross and Nett scores from a 36 hole medal stroke play competition played on one day. Annie topped both the Gross and Nett tables with her 168 gross and 144 Nett.
The Autumn Scrutton Bowl Medal was contested in windy conditions on 9th September. In first place with a Nett 70 was Blanche Neal.  Angela Canty was second with 72.

Lady Captain's Awayday
Calcot Park near Reading was the destination for the Lady Captains awayday and 32 ladies set off in good spirits along the M4. Early rain did nothing to dampen the mood as teams of four competed in a
Bowmaker style fun compettion. The winning team, was captained by Lea Finding with team mates Sue Bremner, Lin Ritchie and Gill Hunter. Sue also achieved nearest the pin on the tricky par 3 seventh - over the water. Jacquie Barcilon scooped the twos prize with her birdie being the only "two"of the day. Jacquie found that the money was burning a hole in her pocket and bought drinks all round back at the club house. Other prizes included plastic ducks for anyone lucky enough to find the water and sand scoopers for those of us in the bunkers! Please CLICK HERE for photo of Emma with the winners .
