The Expected Role of the Junior Organiser.

1             The Junior Organiser shall be a member of the General Committee and will chair a sub-committee to run the Junior Section.

2             He shall report all Junior activity to the General Committee and take responsibility for the management of all Junior competitions (including the Junior Open and Junior Club Championship) at the Club or specifically scheduled for the Junior members at away Clubs as they may be arranged.

3             It is the Junior Organiser’s responsibility to vet all new applicants for membership and explain the requirements of the Club from such members if they are invited to join.

4             The Junior Organiser shall be responsible for directing the General Committee to taking any necessary action for any Junior member’s misdemeanours up to and including the expulsion of such member if the infringement of the Club rules demand such action.

5             The Junior Organiser will co-ordinate and manages the Junior Golf Passport scheme with the nominated Club PGA Coach.

6             The Junior Organiser, with the overview of the General Manager, shall maintain the Junior Section Accounts and prepare expenditure and Income statements as required by the General Committee.

7             The Junior Organiser shall hold this position within the Club for a maximum of three (3) years when he shall pass the responsibility to another nominated Member.

Junior Membership

There are two forms of Junior Membership.

1.           Full Junior membership that is available for all Juniors under the age of 19 years on the 1st January who hold an established handicap.

2.           Junior Academy membership that is offered to any Junior who wishes to play at the Club but does not hold a handicap.

The Junior Academy membership details are given below:-

Juniors Academy Membership

All new Junior Member applicants, unless their application is accompanied with a handicap certificate, shall be offered this membership as a preliminary step towards full Junior Membership.

The Academy membership allows the Junior to utilise all the training facilities of the Club including the covered Golf Range, the Practice Bunker area, Putting Green and full use of the 6 Hole Academy Course.(It does not permit these members to play on the 18 hole course)

It will also incorporate entry into the Club Junior Passport scheme that is a structured program designed to help young people learn about playing the game of golf.

Membership fees of £41.50 (2009 rate) will be applicable at any time during the year and shall be renewable on the 1st January of the following year if continued.

In the event that the Academy member achieves qualification through the Passport scheme to a “Full Passport” he/she will then be offered Full Junior Membership.   On payment of the appropriate membership fee which would be due without the joining fee, he/she will then be entitled to have access to all facilities including the 18 Hole course.

The Junior Golf Passport Scheme

This scheme has been adopted to introduce a controlled and formal introduction for all new Juniors applying for membership of our Club.

The Training program is carried out under the direction of our nominated PGA Coach falling under the guidance of the Golf Foundation national scheme of which we are members.

It is designed to give Juniors the confidence to play the game safely and to a standard that is acceptable for our Club.

The Management procedures are given below:-

Management Procedures

All new Junior members, unless transferring to Cirencester Golf Club with an established handicap (See note 1), shall be offered the Academy Membership.   This membership will permit such members to make full use of the training facilities including Driving Range, Pitching area, Putting Green and the 6 hole Academy course.   It shall also allow them to take advantage of the Junior Golf Passport training program provided by the Club.

1             Junior Members transferring to Cirencester Golf Club with an established handicap will be deemed to have achieved their Course Passport and allowed full access to all facilities of membership.   They shall also be encouraged to attend a modified Junior Golf Passport training program to assist their development.

2             The formal Juniors Passport Scheme is to be managed by the Junior Organiser in conjunction with the appropriate nominated Club PGA Coach.

3             All Junior Members will be issued with the Junior Golf Passport handbook, which they will work through under the direction of the PGA Coach to the stage 5 level when they will then be entitled to receive their Course Passport.   At that stage the Academy member shall be offered full Junior membership.

4             No Juniors shall be permitted to use the 18 hole course without said Course Passport unless they have obtained special permission. (The Junior Organiser or Club PGA Coach under controlled conditions may give Permission)

5             The timetable for these “Junior Golf Passport” training programs provided by the Club shall be determined by the Club PGA Coach in conjunction with the Junior Organiser at the beginning of each year.

6             The Junior Organiser will take responsibility for promoting the Programs through the year and encouraging the Club members to take up their places.

7             All responsibility for the promotion and support by the Club for this scheme will rest with the Junior Organiser through the General Committee.

Junior Membership records and details

In addition to the Club records, the personal details for all Junior members is held on a database file in the Competitions computer.

Copies of relevant contact information in the event of an emergency involving a Junior are kept in hard copy form in a file book in the Competitions Room and another copy behind the Bar.

The Junior Organiser takes responsibility for maintaining this record and ensuring the contact information is as up to date as possible.

Juniors Handicap Procedures

Juniors will be awarded a handicap based upon the initial submission of three completed 18 hole round cards one of which must be signed off by a full adult member.

Upon receiving this handicap the player will be allowed to play in Junior Club competitions.

Adjustment of the handicap will be undertaken automatically through playing in competitions when the adjustment will be based upon playing scores.

In addition handicaps may be adjusted based upon submission of general play cards submitted to the Organiser for review purposes at any time.   Such cards will then be scrutinised by the Handicap Secretary for his approval before adjustment is applied.

When a Junior reaches competence to play at a higher level (having reached a handicap of around 18) he/she can apply to the Organiser to be granted permission to play in Club competitions with the Adult members.   Such applications will be discussed by the Organiser with the Handicap Secretary and permission granted if appropriate.   The Juniors status would then be changed to an “A” category (Advanced Junior) and permission given for the Junior to play but only if at least one other member of the playing team is a full Adult member.
